FIA WEC, 6 Hours of Spa Francorchamps - By The Numbers Audi take a factory 1,2,3,4 finish. It’s a debut win for the R18 Ultra matching the achievement of the R8, R10, R15 and R15 Plus on their racing debuts. Marc Gene wins on his Audi Sport debut to become the first man to win in factory diesel LMPs for two factories – and at Spa in consecutive years (and his third Spa win in 5 years). Oliver Jarvis and Marco Bonamoni finish on the podium in their Audi Sport LMP debuts. The R18 e-tron quattro becomes the first hybrid diesel to finish on the podium of an international motor race. Rebellion Racing bring both of their new 2012 spec Lola Toyotas home – 1-2 in the petrol powered order. In LMP2 Jota Sport take their first international race win in LMP2. Simon Dolan takes his first international race win. Sam Hancock returns to the top step of an international LMP2 podium for the first time since his 2004 LMS Championship winning year in 2004. Jota win their second international class win at Spa (after taking the GT4 class win at the 2010 Spa 24 Hours - A squad which included both Hancock and Dolan). ADR Delta and Murphy Prototypes score their first international LMP podium finishes – Are Murphy prototypes the first Irish team to appear on a World Championship podium? Nissan score a 1,2,3 finish in LMP2. Zytek score yet another LMP2 win, Oreca a 2,3. Porsche score their first WEC win ELMS invitation entries score four podium finishes from a possible five. GTE Pro sees one of the closest finishes in living memory. Porsche take the win in both GT classes. Felbermayr Porsche take the first ACO rules win in a 2012 911 GT3 RSR (Though Manthey have already won in International GT Open). Felbermayr Proton are first WEC cars home in both GT classes – Both they and AF Corse bring cars back on both GT podiums. |
