Spa 24 Hours - Final Hour 15:00 Lamy stays aboard the #78 BMW 15:00 The #23 BMS Porsche pits from second - Hennerici leaves and heads for the finish 15:02 The #16 IMSA Porsche pits from 3rd - Narac in for the finish 15:07 #68 pits on lap 483 from 9th - 3rd in GT3 - Zak Brown will bring it home. Leader pits lap 522 for their final stop. Werner stays aboard 15:09 The #4 Prospeed Porsche pits from 7th on lap 496, followed by the GT3 leading #53 Muelnher Porsche from 6th There's been some controversy in the press room about an instruction not to retune tv monitors to watch the Grand Prix this afternoon - (Hands up if you give a s***)? A deal was eventually done that allowed those so minded to watch monitors at the back of the press room - next to the area occupied by dsc - with the sound turned down. Sure enough around 30 members of the media gathered to watch the festival of money laundering that is F1 - As I write this with the race at 2 thirds distance there are 2 viewers remaining. 15:14 - The #67 UA Audi pits from 10th on lap 483 - Johansson in the car as it pits - Mark Patterson will take it to the finish.
15:19 - Dirk Werner is off the road and into the tyre barrier at Fagnes in the leading #79 car - the car rejoins and runs slowly back to the pits and is wheeled immediately into the box - the damage looks minimal but why did he go off? 15:23 The #23 BMS Porsche leads the Spa 24 hours - A 2010 24 Hour win double for Dumas is very much on! A win double for BMW looks doubtful! 15:26 and the #79 car re-emerges from the garage - the impact with the tyre wall was front right, the work though was front left - We'll offer a theory that something broke. It rejoins the track at 15:28, back in third place, right behind the race leader but now two laps down. The #16 IMSA Porsche is through into second place. Mario Thyssen tells Graham Tyler that the car suffered a front (left) suspension failure before the impact with the barrier. Werner has unlapped himself once from Henzler but it won't be nearly enough - bitter gall for BMW who have dominated this race. If the order stays like this Dumas will be the first winner of the Le Mans and Spa 24 Hours in a single year since Luigi Chinetti in 1949! The rumours of gearbox woes for the GT3 leader seem well founded - The 6th placed running #53 Muelnher Porsche is running with just three functioning gears and the team could not top the car up with oil at the last stop - More drama too come? While we're looking at all this let's not forget that the leader has but a 90 second advantage over the #16 IMSA Performance Porsche - there is very little room for error (as BMW have just found out!) Dumas of course has also won the race overall before in a GT2 car, Wolf Henzler makes it a GT2 24 Hour race win double with his LM 24 Hour GT2 win. BMS take a fifth overall or class title here in the last decade, they follow up a GT2 class podium at Le Mans with the overall win here.
Porsche take their sixth overall win IMSA Performance couldn't quite repeat their GT2 triumphs here but will be happy with second overall - AF Corse finished fifth with their second string #1 car but will get a podium finish in the GT2 class. BMW will be difficult to console but they do take a (pretty shallow) GTN class victory - well clear of the third placed Mosler. And, let's face it they had a fair slice of 24 hour racing luck at the expense of others at the Nurburgring in May! Muehlner take another class victory here in GT3, nursing home a struggling #53 Porsche, Marc VDS will be pleased with second in that class but United Autosports will be ecstatic with their two overall top ten finished, 9th and tenth in the overall standings and 3rd and 4th in GT3 Team Jota will be happy and relieved about their GT4 class win with their new Aston Martin Vantage but we'd bet that the car will be all but rebuilt to ensure that the frustrating electronic niggles become a distant memory as they embark on a new Aston Martin adventure. Finishing Order - Full result to follow: #23, 16, 79, 78, 1, 53, 4, 99, 68, 67, 7, 17, 73, 71, 60, 81, 66, 56, 58, 55(Out), 86, 59, 85 (Out), 70, 69, - 64, 51, 2, 50, 98, 91, 13, 52, 74, 100, 84, 72, 61, 63, 62 (All Out) GG/ GT/ JW
