FIA GT1 World Championship - Silverstone Warm-Up Notes

The clouds really opened as we were leaving Silverstone late yesterday evening and there's plenty of evidence of that on the ground this morning

With rain falling steadily and standing water on track in several corners.  Silverstone already looked like a building site and now looks muddier still!

The half hour warm-up then would be useful for the teams, most have had little wet running and they will have had next to none with the cars in their current configurations.  At least one issue is settled - Xavier Maassen presented the race organisers yesterday with a petition (believed to have been signed by all 46 drivers) to remove the restriction to 4 sets of tyres used for an FIA GT1 weekend - With wet tyres now needed that ceases to become an issue here!

22 of the 23 runners were out on track in the first 20 minutes, the #7 Aston only coming out in the closing minutes.

A couple of harmless spins were the only incidents of note, Oliver Gavin finding himself beached at Becketts in the closing minutes (scratch that the timing screen was incorrect - it was Pertti Kuismanen), the #12 car bottom of the timing sheets post session.

Fastest overall was Maxime Martin in the #40 Marc VDS Ford (2:15.713) - some good news at last for a team that has so far failed to shine.

Next up was Stefan Mucke in the #8 Aston Martin with Jos Menten's Reiter Lamborghini also into the 2:15s.
