ALMS, Long Beach Qualifying - Quick Report

Dyson/Smith overall, Hand BMW in GT and Level 5 No Show

It only takes two to tangle and up front, that was all that was needed as Guy Smith and Klaus Graf traded fast laps throughout the short 15 minute session and it was Smith and his Dyson Mazda Lola coming out on top.  The show was needed as these were the only two cars on track with the no-show of the Level 5 cars in the session.

In GT, it was first Pat Long and Jan Magnussen swapping fast ones, then Joey hand stepped in and took over.  BMW finished the session 1-3, sandwiching the Corvette of Mags.  Long settled for 4th in class.  In his first lap, Jaime Melo found the wall in his Risi Ferrari and only was credited with 1 lap.

The LMPC class session was shortened, as Anthony Nicolosi lost his car into the wall at turn 6, smacked the outside wall, bounced off and then hit the opposite wall.  He was able to limp away from the hit, but the car was damaged pretty well.  In the shortened session, it was Gunnar Jeannette (Core) taking the class pole over Kyle Marcelli (Intersport) and Alex Figge (PR1 Mathiasen).

GTC was another Jeroen Bleekemolen show, as he took the class pole by over .6 seconds over Leh Keen in the AJR Porsche.
