Sebring Tuesday Update

Thankfully Tuesday was a relatively quite day at Sebring.  No major incidents were reported – quite a change from Monday.

Genoa is on schedule to return to the track on Wednesday.  Robertson hopes to be back for night practice, Thursday evening.  David really wants to be able to participate in the race in the darkness, and without meeting the proper requirements in the session, he likely will not be able to race in the darkness.

Tom Weickert did get some seat time in the Primetime LMPC.

Among the many issues on Monday, we missed this one.  Drayson also had a problem.  Jonny Cocker became a passenger in the Lola-Judd, when the gearbox locked up on a 3-4 upshift.  There was damage to the nose and the rear, as well as scrapes to one side of the bodywork.  The car was out today, like nothing had happened.  It’s better to have issues early…

Robertson Racing co-owner and driver David Robertson says the team’s Doran-Ford GT should be repaired after its heavy crash Monday. The car backed into the Turn 10 wall, which destroyed the suspension. The frame also was bent, Robertson said, with the engine ripped away from the mounting and the bellhousing cracked.

On track the #08 Peugeot of Pedro Lamy, Sebastien Bourdais and Nic Minassian posted the fastest lap of the day  1:46.232 (125.386 mph) with the Lola Aston Martin second quickest at 1:46.557 (125.004 mph).

Drayson Racing were third in the order with a best lap of 1:47.223 (124.227 mph) and Patrón Highcroft Racing had the fastest LMP2 lap with 1:48.318, set in the morning session.

A press release from Creation Autosportif yesterday meanwhile announced the withdrawal of the team's updated CA10 Judd LMP1 car from the 12 Hours of Sebring "due to the non-performance of one of its principal sponsors".  LMP1 is down to 5 cars.

Creation promises a return later in the Series.

Jon Field's accident meanwhile appears to have resulted from a failure of the right rear suspension before the braking zone into Turn 10.

Marshall Pruett at speedtv.com meanwhile has established that Corvette racing have plans to test Paul Edwards, Butch Leitzinger and Graham Rahal on the Monday after the race.  Potential additions for 2011? Marshall's source is even talking about the potential for one of the trio to be added to the roster for the Le Mans 24 Hours!

Audi meanwhile are testing their updated R15 down the road at Homestead!

Wednesday sees a short session in the afternoon, as well as a slight chance of showers.
