Le Mans Series - Spa 1000kms - Post Race Snippets

dsc caught up with Jacques Nicolet post-race after a good day for his Oak Racing equipe.  Nicolet had told us earlier in the year that the team were considering an entry into the Intercontinental Le Mans Challenge with an LMP1 Pescarolo Judd.  The team now though will contest the three ILMC rounds with an LMP2 Pescarolo Judd - That means then that there is a prospect of an Oak Racing entry to Petit Le Mans later this year.

The 7g accident which befell Thor-Christian Ebbesvik as he made his way rapidly through the field mid-race in the Team Bruichladdich Ginetta Zytek has left the young Norwegian with a fractured vertebrae.

After initial checks at the circuit medical centre Ebbesvik was transferred to Verviers hospital. He's now hoping to travel home to Norway early this week where he will be able to undertake specialist consultation in order to assess his recovery for the Le Mans 24 Hours.

"The track conditions were difficult but I just had to get on with it without taking excessive risk. The car was superbly balanced and I was able to come right through the field, and I am just sorry the team never got the result it deserved.

"I thought I had left the Aston Martin enough room, but I got a hefty whack up the back followed by a hard meeting with the wall.

"I am quick healer, so hopefully will be OK for Le Mans, as I am really looking forward to that race.

Meanwhile earlier in the race dsc readers Geoff Staddon and Paul Mousely again scooped the dsc snappers by capturing a pair of early race moments (or, in the case of the #29 Racing Box Lola, its aftermath)
