Grand-Am – Infineon Raceway – Armed Forces Grand-Am 250 – Entry & Preview
Two Rounds, Four Drivers, Four Points

Is the outcome of this championship solely in the hands of Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty? Their form this season has been exceptional, and with a string of outstanding results behind them, they just need a couple more to secure the Rolex Series title.

But the three entries and four drivers involved in this chase can’t afford a poor result: the three cars filled the podium last time out at Watkins Glen, and the scoring system in Grand-Am means in effect that whatever happens on Saturday at Infineon Raceway, it will still probably still come down to Max Angelelli, Scott Pruett and Jon Fogarty / Alex Gurney at the last round at Miller Motorsports Park – but anything outside the top six at Infineon would probably leave the driver(s) in that entry without a realistic chance of winning the points battle.

Pruett 354
Angelelli 354
Fogarty / Gurney 350
Rojas 329
Braun 308

The rest are led by Rojas and Braun, but Memo Rojas partners Pruett so he can’t take the title, while Colin Braun misses this event, as result of incidents at previous races (and the penalty then applied by Grand-Am).

Five wins and two thirds in the last seven races is title-winning form, so Fogarty and Gurney ‘simply’ need to keep that going for the last two. But if they stumble…..

One significant change in the driver line-ups is that Terry Borcheller stands in for the absent Jorg Bergmeister in the AJR Crawford Porsche. This entry did win in California earlier this season: will Long and Borcheller get among the title chasers this time?

The race (DPs only) is on Saturday afternoon, the Daytona Prototypes sharing the event with the IRL cars.

This is the start of last year's race, won by Scott Pruett and Luis Diaz in the #01 Ganassi Riley.
