Sunday Misc Stuff From Miller Contrary to various revisions of the entry sheet, Genoa is not here. Kyle Marcelli is in the Intersport LMPC car this weekend. This makes the 3rd (or even 4th by going off of team names) team that Kyle has driven for this season. Correction/clarification as far as aero configuration for Highcroft – it is not the Le Mans configuration, but it is with the narrow rear wing. Paul Ryan, Highcroft PR, refers to it as a “Frankenstein”, while Duncan Dayton prefers to look at it as either a –B+ or a –C-. The nose is pretty much a –B, while the rear deck is a modification of the Le Mans –C deck, with top exhaust. Schedule Silly Season – The roller coaster ride of guess the 2011 schedule continues this weekend. Coming into this event, it was looking like the series might not return to Miller. Now, it looks like we’ll be back in May (again) for possibly a 6-hour race. Laguna? Back to a September/October date? Portland was again being talked about, but it’s the same old story – there has to be a promoter. Detroit and Houston – still mentioned, as is Cleveland. Best guess at this point is pretty much the same venues as we’ve seen this season, but with the addition of Baltimore and Oklahoma City. The real issue will be sorting when for the races. Scheduling around Intercontinental Cup events, Le Mans and the Le Mans test will present a challenge, as will weather. According to John Gardner from Miller, the track had snow here this last May. Hey Michelin – you got high performance snow tires? As of now, Rapid City has not been a part of the rumors. Falken – According to Wolf Henzler, the team was granted a lap of the circuit and the car appears to be OK. They will start from the back of the grid. Well not the complete back – Intersport LMPC will start 33rd, due to tire change, while the No. 61 Risi will start dead last due to the previously reported ride height infringement. The early morning weather consisted of rain moving through the area. It has been almost completely dry since, but the temperatures are down, compared to yesterday. Cloud cover and wind has increased, but everything should be fine for the race. |
