FIA GT Monza - Saturday Morning

Dismal conditions all weekend so far at Monza, a sharp contrast to the soaring temperatures just a few weeks ago for the Le Mans Series.

Friday saw the FIA GT3 runners out on track, 43 cars appearing but with some car damaging incidents, notably to the Clucas / Hissom Jaguar, this Stuart Scott's car Britcar machine, a late replacement for the regular FIA GT3 car that was badly damaged in testing at Silverstone last week.

Amongst the FIA GT runners there are a couple of notables - The Rbimmo Saleen sporting a smart new livery to mark new backing from IPOS for the #13 Piccini / Menten machine.

In GT2 Italian Squad Victor racing make an appearance with their #99 Porsche 997 GT3 RSR, Victor, Giovanni and Giorgio Coggiola the driving squad that took set to make life difficult for race commentators.

Tim Sugden stands in for an unavailable Chris Niarchos in the #55 CR Scuderia Ferrari.

Of peripheral interest to the race proper but a welcome sight for lovers of elderly GT cars is the boost to the Citation Cup ranks provided by the return of Kessel Racing's #21 Ferrari 575 (Kessel / Chiesa) together with the locally based Dodge Viper GTSR of Lanza Racing.

Meanwhile - With no track action on Thursday afternoon, the dsc contingent took a stroll round the Monza track - It looks as if the Creation boys have been there already though.
