Le Mans 24 Hours, Hour 19 Wainwright has a broken rib after the Aston Martin's hard side-on impact at the Porsche curves. The Pescarolo re-joins but not until Duval takes fifth place. Prost is now on the same lap as the Pescarolo too. The #81 retirement was due to losing drive, so there are only four survivors in the GTE Am class now, with quarter of the race still left to run. 9:09 GTE Am is now #51 from #73 and #55, BMW finally reinstating themselves into a podium position. Each of the top four is the best part of a lap off the next however so only significant events are likely to shake things up now. At the other end of the GT spread David Murry sets the fastest lap for the Ford GT, Hirschi takes over the Evora but spins it on his outlap at the Dunlop S. 9:18 Leader pits and third place in P2 (Level 5) in too, engine cover off but quickly replaced. Fuel only for Treluyer in a 51 second stop, Pagenaud and Wurz race back to the front, 20 seconds apart. The third place GTE Pro of Farfus is pushed into the box. Magnussen says his accident was caused by a suspension failure and he is concerned about the state of Horst Felbermayr senior who was collected in the accident as it took a long time to get him out of the car. Lieb pits and falls to sixth in class behind Armindo and Priaulx. Priaulx takes third place from the stricken BMW which is losing fluid in the garage at 9:27, Armindo and Lieb follow through. Meanwhile Pagenaud pits, a 53 second stop puts him back to third when he rejoins. #8 and #10 stop too from fourth and sixth respectively. 9:30 and #55 rejoins, but is clearly losing enough coolant to paint a wide stripe up the pit exit on the way out. Was this just liquid from the undertray, or freshly deposited? Jousse posts a 3:34.776, the best for the Pescarolo so far. 9:34 - Wurz pits from the lead and the leapfrog game continues as Treulyer and Pagenaud move back through. Farfus is lapping competitively so is hopefully holding its coolant now. 9:45 #7 of Wurz has tagged the tyre wall on the exit of Indianapolis from third overall and the car is stuck in the gravel. It is dragged out quickly but they take it all the way back to the escape road before releasing it. Pagenaud is now the only challenger to Treluyer short of any more incident and let's face it, there will be plenty. Wurz appeared to put a mid-corner correction in and ran out of exit kerb as a result. As he rejoins bits of bodywork flies from the front left and cascades onto the track. The front right suspension is loose too. He has a one lap lead over Sarrazin which goes. Duval is 10 laps further back. Both BMWs run wide coming out of Indianapolis a few laps later. Gravel from when Wurz rejoined? 9:58 and Treluyer pits as Davidson weaves out of the pits in the rejuvenated #7, testing the rebuild. A 53 second stop sees the Audi rejoin 23 seconds down on Pagenaud. |
