Le Mans 24 Hours - Race Report - Hour 20 10:03 GTE Am Lamy is starting to build his lead again, but now only by a few tenths per lap. The Corvette leads the Porsche by 8.734s with under five hours to go. 10:05 GTE Pro Vilander pits from the lead in the #51. It is a swift stop and he maintains his lead over Melo, who then pits the #59. 10:08 GTE Am Pilet is lapping a good five seconds quicker than Belloc and has the #79 within two minutes of the fourth-placed Corvette. 10:12 LMP1 - Watts has had a further stop, 3 minutes, reason presently unknown, dropping the Strakka car back behind the LMP2 leading Starworks car 10:12 GTE Pro Melo is back into the pits after his outlap in the #59. Turner has two laps to make up before he can usurp second place. 10:14 LMP1: The #13 Rebellion has dropped out of the top 10 with the car still in the garage 10:15 GTE Am The #57 Ferrari, #79 Porsche and #61 Ferrari all make scheduled stops. Rugolo stays aboard the Krohn 458, but Spencer Pumpelly is now in the Lizard Porsche and Rob Kauffman now has control of the Waltrip 458. 10:17 GTE Am Narac closes back up to Lamy - 7.603s after 262 laps - but it continues to be a case of trading tenths between the two. 10:19 LMP1 - The Strakka stop recently was for a repressuristion of the water system having suffered rising water temps 10:19 GTE Pro Fred Makowiecki brings the #59 Ferrari back into the race, but how close is Turner? 2:28.792 is the answer. 10:20 LMP2: All relatively quiet for some time now., with just the occasional routine pitstop. The closest positional gap is 26 seconds between Ayari (#46), third, and Rusinov (#26) fourth. The second-placed P2 runner, the #46 Thiriet TDS then pits, and drops a couple of places in the process, rejoining in fourth after a driver change to Beche. 10:22 GTE Pro The #59 Ferrari's issue was a small problem with the rear wheels, but the team removed a shim and all is now apparently well. 10:23 LMP1 - Dindo pits and emerges just a handful of seconds down on the #1 car, Fassler at the wheel with Treluyer looking set to forego the Day Nurse and drive next 10:24 LMP2: A spate of further pitstops in fairly rapid succession sees the class leader, Ryan Dalziel, through the pitlane in the Starworks HPD. Tor Graves (#25) and Simon Dolan (#38) also passing through. 10:27 LMP2: Having been off into the gravel at Mulsanne Corner, completed a circuit of the roundabout (the wrong way), David Heinemeier Hansson brings the #35 Oak Morgan back to the pitlane for a checkup. It's the only Oak entry still surviving. Fresh tyres and a quick check and then off again. 10:27 GTE Pro DT pits the Vantage. Spencer Pumpelly is lapping sub-4:00 and keeping the pressure up on Larbre. 10:30 LMP1 #13 Rebellion has rejoined the race after its clutch problem, down in 14th overall. 10:32 LMP2: Pitstop for Martin Brundle. The #41 Greaves Motorsport Zytek is holding 8th in class, 16th overall. 10:33 GTE Pro Fred Mak sets the fastest S1 time for the #59 Ferrari. Further back, Beretta performs the same trick with the #71 Ferrari. Makowiecki's 3:56.216 is a tenth shy of the Aston's fastest. 10:37 LMP1 Bonamoni slow and he has just started his lap. LMP2 Jota has crashed at Porsche curves and has lost some bodywork and wing.10:41 LMP1 Bonanomi is up to full speed again! 10:41 LMP2: Simon Dolan in the #38 Jota Zytek, following his contact and spin at the karting element of the Porsche Curves, ends up facing the wrong way and cannot seem to get the engine fired again. The car is hauled out of the way without much ceremony. We'll wait to see if he can get it going again. 10:42 LMP2: Simon Dolan does rejoin and is crabbing sideays towards the pit entry. The car has sustained a lot of rear-end damage. 10:44 LMP1 Fassler has pitted a few moments ago and #4 pits. Fuel and tyres and a switch to Jarvis. No investigation of whatever issue caused it to grind to a halt is apparent. #12 is in for a switch to Jani. 10:44 LMP2: Dolan reaches the pitlane, but is having considerable difficulty controlling the direction of the car. Nevertheless, he makes slow progress towards his pit garage, with smoke billowing from the rear wheelarches where the bodywork is fouling the bodywork. 10:45 GTE Am Lamy and Narac pit on the same lap, with the gap between the two 21s at the start of the stops. 10:46 LMP2: Rusinov, on an out-lap, appears to lose the right-rear tyre from the wheel rim, and spins at Indianapolis. The car is sideways across the track, but he is narrowly avoided by passing cars. He makes an untidy return to the pitlane. 10:47 GTE Am Lamy stays in the Corvette for another stint, while Nicolas Armindo gets aboard the Porsche. This is a tactical move by Larbre, with Julien Canal sounding confident in the team pits. 10:49 LMP2: Rusinov reaches his pit garage, and is eager to get out of the car. The team replaces the errant wheel, and Nelson Panciatici takes over in the cockpit. However, after initially looking as though he'd head straight back out again, the team then hauls the car back into the garage. 10:50 GTE Am Belloc pits the second Larbre Corvette from fourth. The Lizard Porsche finally goes past as the #70's stop turns out to be a lengthy one. 10:54 LMP2: the #26 rejoins, Panciatici confirmed as the driver for this next stint. The car resumes 4th in P2. 10:57 LMP2: Pitstop for the #25 ADR-Delta Oreca, Tor Graves bringing the fifth-placed car into the pitlane. 10:58 GTE Pro Stefan Mücke improves the best GT time by almost a second - 3:55.205! A tenth faster than the pole time. 10:59 GTE Pro Mücke's S1 and S2 on his next lap are personal bests and he improves to a 3:54.928. |
