Dunlop ALMS

ALMS, Petit Le Mans - Hour 8

We start the eighth hour of this year's Petit le mans with the track under an extended full course yellow, forty minutes after Patrick Dempsey went into the wall at Turn 7.

18:37 RACING RESUMES
Thank God.  Green.  At least for a moment.  Murphy into the tires in Turn 1 - Warren Hughes at the wheel.  Also the #24 GTC into the tires and off in the Esses.  Yellow again, just as Hughes gets back on track.  The Murphy had a down left front tire.

18:42
Hughes into the pits - tire changed.  Also the #24 GTC back on track.  Still yellow...

18:51
Still yellow...

18:54  RACING RESUMES
Green!!!  We like green racing.  It's much better than yellow racing.

18:55
It's getting darkish here - the headlights are becoming visible on the pavement.

18:58
GTC is very tight - Mario Farnbacher leading Leh Keen, then pulling away in traffic conditions.

19:00
Mags closes in a big way on JvO in #01, but not able to make a move.  Traffic gives JvO an advantage, then takes it right away. It's tight again, but it looks at this point to be advantage JvO Ferrari over Mags Corvette.

19:04
The #56 BMW pits - penalty for passing under the yellow.

19:06
Conquest to the lead in P2 and second overall - DHH passing Tucker into Turn 1.  Colin Braun to the pits - drops down the PC order.

19:13
Corvette #3 to the pits as is the leading ESM Ferrari.  JvO stays in - Garcia in for Mags.  Mueller to the lead for the moment.

19:18
Pretty much dark here, with 2:14 or 79 laps to go.

19:21
Major development in P2 - #055 2:26 penalty stop-go for improper wave by and passing under the yellow.  That drops them 2 laps and out of contention.

19:23
For those that care, Rebellion is just cruising, leading overall by 3 laps.  The Lola pits - Jani in, Belicchi out.

19:27
Viper #93 back to it's den again.

19:28
After the penalty for #055, it has dropped to 5th in class.

19:30
Pickett Racing hits the 70% and takes the 2012 P1 Championship.  Congrats to the team.  You deserve it.
